About

I’m Kalle Hiitola, an entrepreneur, game developer, and strategic leader with a deep passion for technology and innovation.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of co-founding companies, leading groundbreaking projects, and guiding teams through challenging but rewarding journeys. My background spans game development, advertising, design, and leadership, and I’m always eager to take on new challenges that push the boundaries of what’s possible.
Core Values and Philosophy:
I believe that technology is ultimately a tool to enhance human experience. What matters most are the people behind the technology. Transparency, openness, and authenticity are key to effective leadership. By keeping egos in check and fostering a culture of empathy and emotional intelligence, I believe we can achieve remarkable results. Being prepared and thinking creatively are essential to staying ahead of the curve. Whether I’m developing a game, leading a team, or advising a startup, my goal is always to create value and push boundaries.
Personal Interests:
When I’m not working on my latest project, I love spending time on the water. Sailing is one of my passions—it’s a perfect blend of strategy, skill, and the tranquility of nature. I also enjoy exploring new technologies, playing games, and staying current with industry trends.
Work Experience
Game Lead
Supercell
2023
At Supercell, I have worked on new game development and special projects, combining hands-on creation with team leadership, product direction, design thinking, and technical execution.
My work has focused on building ambitious new game experience, forming strong team around them, and creating the culture and ways of working needed for small, independent team to move fast while maintaining a high creative bar.
Game Lead 2024 - Present
As Game Lead, I am leading the development of a new game at Supercell. The role combines creative leadership, product ownership, team building, culture development, and hands-on contribution across code, design, and product.
I have been responsible for shaping the game vision, building the team around it, defining how we work together, and guiding the project from early concept toward a playable and testable product.
The role requires a broad mix of skills: leading people, setting direction, making product decisions, supporting creative work, building systems, writing code, and helping the team turn an idea into a game that can stand up to Supercell’s high standards.
A major part of the work has been creating the right environment for a small team to do its best work. That means building trust, clarity, ownership, and a culture where ambitious ideas can be explored quickly, honestly, and with strong craft.
Hay Day Special Project 2023
I also worked on a confidential special project related to Hay Day. While I cannot share details about the project, the work involved contributing to a strategically important internal initiative within one of Supercell’s most iconic games.
The project gave me the opportunity to work in a focused, high-trust environment on sensitive product and development topics, while contributing my experience in technology, game development, product thinking, and team execution.

Through Nuard Ventures, I invest in and support ambitious early-stage companies, especially in gaming, AI, software, digital commerce, marketplaces, infrastructure, and technology.
Nuard is built around an operator-investor mindset. In addition to capital, we aim to help founders with practical company-building topics such as product, technology, hiring, fundraising, strategy, team culture, and the early decisions that often determine whether a startup gains momentum.
Current and recent investments include companies such as Appcharge, AudioMob, Cogram, Leetify, Cypher Games, Extra Dimension Games, Black Block, FunCraft, Sneaky Panda, Frozen Monkey Games, Superbloom, Talewind, MVision AI, Syncle, System 2 AI, Complink, Crown Defence, Elevatix, Operating, Prenew, Ridable, Oura, Arte Collectum, Brainboard, Kausal, Netmaker, First Circle, Stoke Games, FOV Ventures, Wave Ventures and others.
Notable previous investments and outcomes include Next Games, which IPO’d in 2017 and was acquired by Netflix in 2022, Ready Player Me, acquired by Netflix, Jido and Speechly, both acquired by Roblox, Mutable AI, acquired by Google, Academica, acquired by TelecityGroup and later part of Equinix, Crew Media, acquired by Academica, and Nemein, acquired by Anders Innovations.
For me, Nuard is also a way to stay close to founders and new ideas. I enjoy helping early teams sharpen their thinking, avoid avoidable mistakes, and build companies with both ambition and staying power.

Next Games
2013
-
2022
During my nearly decade-long journey at Next Games, I helped build the company from its earliest days into one of Finland’s most recognized mobile game studios, culminating in an IPO and later acquisition by Netflix.
As one of the company’s co-founders, I was deeply involved in shaping the company vision, culture, leadership practices, technology strategy, and the teams that made Next Games successful. My role evolved over time from hands-on technical leadership into broader company building, strategic execution, team development, and new game creation.
Co-Founder
As a co-founder, I worked closely with the founding team to build Next Games from the ground up. This included defining the company’s early culture, hiring key people, creating ways of working, and helping turn an ambitious startup into a publicly listed gaming company. A major part of my contribution was building strong teams around ambitious goals. I have always believed that great companies are built through trust, clarity, ownership, and talented people who are given the space to do their best work.
Chief Technology Officer 2013 - 2020
As CTO, I led the technological strategy behind several major titles, including The Walking Dead: No Man’s Land, The Walking Dead: Our World, Blade Runner: Rogue, and Compass Point: West.
My responsibilities covered game technology, backend platforms, cloud infrastructure, live operations, large-scale deployments, and the technical foundations needed to support successful global mobile games. I also helped guide the company through key growth stages, including its IPO journey and later strategic evolution.
Beyond technology, the CTO role was also a leadership role. I built and led teams, supported cross-functional decision-making, and worked closely with product, creative, business, and company leadership to turn ambitious ideas into shipped games and scalable operations.
Head of New Games 2020 - 2021
As Head of New Games, I focused on building and supporting teams working on new game concepts. My role was to create the right environment for creative leads, designers, artists, engineers, and producers to explore bold ideas while still moving with focus and discipline.
One of my proudest achievements during this period was leading the first Next Games Academy. I created the curriculum, organized the program, and acted as the headmaster for a new cohort of talent joining the company. The goal was not only to onboard people efficiently, but to help them understand the culture, craft, and expectations needed to contribute meaningfully to a high-performing game studio.
Head of Strategic Projects 2021 - 2022
As Head of Strategic Projects, I led high-impact initiatives connected to the company’s broader strategic goals. This role required aligning people, priorities, and execution across different parts of the organization.
The work combined strategic thinking with practical delivery: identifying what mattered most, bringing the right people together, creating clarity, and making sure important projects moved forward effectively.
